Pricing is always an interesting question when it comes to websites. It's definitely one question that all potential clients ask: "How much do you charge to build a website?" Our answer is always the same: "Exactly the amount that it takes, and not one dollar extra." In reality, there should be no set price for a website, because each one is different from the next. Pricing a website is like buying a car. Are you looking for a Volkswagon, or are you looking for a Rolls-Royce? Most companies are looking for something in-between. With lots and lots of customizations, too.

In 20 years of building websites, we've built them for under one thousand dollars, and for over twenty-five thousand dollars: the Volkswagon and the Rolls-Royce. Most websites do fall into certain price ranges.

Non-eCommerce Websites...these are sites that do not sell a product or service online. There is no shopping cart, etc. It's a site to typically promote a business or an organization. The sites typically start around $2,000 and can go higher depending upon the breadth of services needed.

eCommerce Websites...these are sites that are tied to a shopping cart, where credit card payment is collected through a secure connection. These sites are more complicated, typically, than a non-ecommerce site, because of the shopping cart, the administrative section, etc. They can get highly detailed with inventory control, with extensive use of databases, with internal mailing systems, and specialized user features. eCommerce sites typically start at $3,000 and go up from there.

What are some of the factors in determining the price of a website? First, how complex is the design? Is it a design-heavy site? The more time that's spent with design, the higher the cost. Another factor is the type of site. An auction website is a very complex compilation of code that takes many hours to build. A site that promotes a small business with a simply contact form takes many hours less to build. Again, look at the cars to the right. Both cars will get you from Point A to Point B. One has more features, bells and whistles. It's all about what you need to make your website function to suit your needs.
